Who are you?.
No, seriously, who are you?.
Most people have to really think about this.
David Ford says:
“I have only ever asked “who are you,” as a kind of tongue-in-cheek question. I’m curious as to how people will respond. What will they choose to say? Will they say anything? Will they get angry? Will they laugh? Will they laugh and attempt to respond? Will they laugh and ignore the question? Will they ask me what I am asking for?”
Audrey Simpson-Campbell says:
“You are a representation of your accumulated experiences to date”.
In truth, who we think we are and who we actually are can be two very different things. Who we think we are can affect every living hour of every living day. The tragic thing is, many of us never really find out who we truly are and we proceed to live our life not ever really knowing.
So, who are you, and why should you care?
Simply put. Most people want some kind of change in their life. Change is hard. It’s even harder if you don’t know who you really are.
How to find out who you really are?
- My first question to you is, are you happy and satisfied with what you currently have in your life and are you happy with what you do for a living ?
- If you want more, why haven’t you done it?
- In your quietest times, what do you think about most?
- If money were no object, what would you do?. How would you spend each day?
- If you had your life all over again, how would you do it differently, or would you?
- If you are not happy with how your life is going, what would you change? Why haven’t you changed it?
If you answer the above questions honestly, you may start to learn a bit more about yourself. The answer to question 4 will really make you search deep down and find your passion.
Always remember one thing. Live a life where you are being your true self. Happiness comes from within when you are being your true self, living a lie or living your life for someone else will never make you happy. Finding out who you really are and living that life will make you get up each day with a spring in your step and your enthusiasm will be infectious.
Look at your demeanor. Do you smile a lot, are you forever cheerful, do you look on the bright side, or are you feeling down all the time and miserable? This is important, your moods will play a great part in both your physical and mental health. Your moods will also affect your social and business life.
Know who you are and constantly improve…
Step 1. Know exactly who you are. P.S, you are not your job, ethnicity or your skin color. You are probably the total sum of everything you have experienced in your life so far, good, bad or indifferent. Whatever you really want to be will give you an idea of who you really are.
Step 2. Once you know who you really are, you have a better idea of what you really want. When you know what you want (exactly), you can go after it. P.S, you can’t steer a ship if you don’t know which direction to steer it.
Step 3. Think bigger, more positive thoughts, don’t restrict yourself on what you want, go after the whole cake, not just a slice- take massive action, bold thinking demands bold action.
My point here is we tend to attract to us like-minded people and situations. If everything in your life sucks, it could be that your thinking is not congruent with what you want. Knowing who you are is SO important because if you don’t feel happy with the way things are going, you are probably on the wrong path and steering yourself into the storm instead of making each day something worth living for.
Things you think you can’t do, are often the very things you can and need to do. In fact, many people convince themselves of the things they can’t do above convincing themselves of the things they can do. There is no real safety net in life, it’s an illusion, taking calculated risks instead of sitting on your hands will help you to move forward.
But first. Who are you?
If you think you are a bad person, you’ll act in a way to bring that about AND you will attract others who think that way to. People who love to moan and complain attract like-minded people. Do you really want to spend your life listening to moaners?.
We are all just human beings, trying to do our best. But knowing who we are is so important. Know yourself properly so you can reframe, adjust and change your life.
Did life get in the way?
The thing is, with life. It’s often used as a reason, an excuse even, for not achieving the things we really wanted to. I have news for you. Many of those people that achieved the things that you wanted, also had a life – they just didn’t let it get in the way.
From small beginnings, you can do the most amazing things. You may feel small now, but in truth, you are just beginning. Everything starts from growing, feeling small is not an incurable condition, it’s a lack of self-confidence, self-esteem, and belief, but that’s not incurable.
Someone, or maybe several people made you feel small.
You listened to them, you believed, you became.

How To Think Big
Here’s the thing. If you can feel small, you can also feel big. Feelings come from the way we think. People who do big things think big because they feel bigger, they feel confident, and each day is a wonderful challenge.
Thinking small, not only reduces your life experiences, it also plays havoc with your health, believe it or not, confidence increases both mental and physical health. Once the brain is healthy, the heart follows. In fact, both the brain and the heart are very much running in sync.
In order to think big, you need an increase in confidence. In order to increase your confidence, you need to think big, either will do the trick but do one of the two…
For more information on thinking more of yourself, check out “Love Yourself Deeply” from Rebecca Collins. It’s initially aimed at women but it also applies to men. .
The truth is, many of us don’t really know who we are anymore. We let outside forces challenge and maybe destroy us. We got lost. We were once a kid, a fun kid. Now life seems like it’s molded by others, and the circumstances that surround us, is this you?
Who Are You Now?
You can be a manager at your local supermarket and wear a big badge that says “Manager”. That’s just your label, your job, but not who you are. You are the one who decides who you are. We are all just renting space on this planet, time is short, tomorrow isn’t guaranteed, and life is too short to be a major player in other people’s drama.
The limitations we place on ourselves are not even real. Who knows what we can ultimately achieve, do you?. Exactly how do you know?, who told you, you were only capable of X, maybe you are capable of “Y”, or even “Z”.
You can’t know until you try.
We often blame others when it is actually ourselves at fault. Others don’t stop you from achieving your goals, you do. We blame them, as it’s convenient to do so and gives us the excuses to justify our inaction.
The human being was designed to seek and prosper, not wither and die. Dying comes at the end, it’s not meant to be a part of your everyday life.
Look forward, not backward. Realize that your feelings are connected to how you think. Have faith in your future. If it all looks a bit hazy and doesn’t look too enticing, change it. You have the power to change your thoughts. Don’t concentrate on what you don’t have, concentrate on what you have and what you want.
So, who are you?
