How Many Influencers Are In Your Soup?

I know it’s a strange title, but it will all make perfect sense in a few moments.

“Leaders don’t create followers, they create more leaders” – Tom Peters

There are a ton of influencers on the internet today, all with their own different styles of teaching. Today, if your goal is to learn something with little or no financial outlay at first, YouTube is your go-to place.

Influencers usually drop some value in each of their videos, this tends to lead to a free course of some sort that then leads to a paid course. This is a good sequence of events as the influencer is dropping value first before asking you to buy something. You also start to get to know that influencer much better.

The Dumb And The Smart Way To Follow Influencers

If you have too many influencers at once, you’re heading for trouble. you can only learn so much at any one time, if you keep going from one influencer to another, you’ll often get information that is totally conflicting to one or more of the other influencers you indulge in. This can lead to confusion and overwhelm.

As with any business, you can only go so far by learning before you start, most learning is done on the job, but if you keep switching influencers and hope to find that guru of all gurus one who has all the answers… I’m here to tell you, they don’t exist.

Too much learning and not enough action is counterproductive…

I made this mistake back in 2010 when I was learning Internet Marketing. At the time, I was subscribing to a couple of membership sites and regularly watching YouTube videos. I overwhelmed my brain by giving it too many gurus to listen to. (Influencers were known as gurus back then), As you can guess, the needle of progress didn’t move much and it was only when I simplified the learning process, did I actually start to make any money.

Keep It Simple

Human beings love to overcomplicate things. Many people online never earn a penny because they never get started. They are just too busy learning stuff and deciding which influencers to follow.

Let’s be honest, learning isn’t the same as doing. If all we had to do was learn stuff to build a business and get rich, we would all be millionaires by now, however, it doesn’t work like that. you actually have to go out and sell stuff, just like the gurus (sorry, influencers), are doing to you. And there is nothing wrong with that. People pay far more attention to a course that they’ve paid for than they do to a free course..

Free stuff tends to end up in the bin.

The best thing you can do is to pick one influencer who you resonate with. Someone who sounds right, has the proof of passage (they are where you want to be), offers up a lot of free value first, has a lot of positive feedback on their videos, and possibly has some kind of free taster course that looks like it will help you… these are the people you should resonate with and eventually BUY their course…

You only need one course..

Paying $297 $497, $997, $1997 for a course is nothing in comparison to the earnings you can make from the Internet. Don’t be fooled by unsuccessful people who constantly shout “scam” at every opportunity. Those people are doomed.

[WARNING] You’ll never make money on the internet if you think everything is a scam. I paid a thousand dollars for a publishing course, (it’s now $2000), but learning from this course and doing it has made me well over this every month. It could have taken me years to figure it all out on my own.

Very little in this life is free. If your favorite influencer is offering free training from their videos or their free course, hoover it up, then be prepared to pay for their more intense training.

And finally

Don’t overcomplicate things. Learn how to sell something online, whether that be books, T-shirts, Gifts etc. Don’t try to do everything at once. Get good at one thing, whatever that is, find an influencer who knows their stuff, learn something from their free information and if that and “they” resonate with you, buy their course. Don’t just learn, DO it as you learn., take action. Learn a bit and DO a bit more. And so on and so on.

Don’t end up being one of those people who are forever in learning mode, but when it comes to getting it out there, they never actually fire the gun and make money. The internet space is full of followers who just follow. Take the lead and start influencing others..
