Dream Big – Denzil Washington, Do you Have The Guts To Fail?

If you don’t fail, you’re not even trying – Denzil Washington

Two-time Academy Award-winning actor Denzel Washington has established himself as a popular leading man in everything from powerful dramas to high-octane action thrillers. He has also established himself as a leading thought leader in today’s personal development field and he has great insight into what makes humans do what they do, and how they think.

He often talks about failing forward. In fact, he sees failure as an essential tool in making progress. He also sees failure as “courage”. In essence, “having the guts to fail” Without failure, how can we succeed at anything as surely most people don’t succeed on the first try.

The Difference Between Success And Failure

He truly believes the difference between success and failure in anything is “just having the ability to hang on”. Denzel has failed at many things, including a singing part in a musical as his singing ability was not up to par. Did he quit on the idea? – NO, however, it did take him 30 years to actually appear in one, ironically it was at at the very same theater he failed the first audition at, 30 years before.

Success at anything is not just about ability. Sure, ability plays a big part, but remember, most things can be learned, so, not having the ability to do something is really just an excuse for not bothering to learn it. What makes the REAL difference is how some people become UNSTOPPABLE. They won’t give in, no matter how many times they fail. This is the real power. This is what gets things done. You can’t stop a person who won’t give in.

I hope you enjoyed this short post. Denzil Washington is a true inspiration. He shares his inspirational insights with thousands of other people via the fraternity circuit and has also spoken at many high-profile events. He has also appeared in over 55 movies to date.

Have a great day.

Keith
