Why You Should Die With A Smile On Your Face

Let’s be honest. Most of what goes on in the world today would be funny if it wasn’t so f*cking tragic. We seem to be OK with some of the worst behaviour possible whilst we ignore the many opportunities we have to put the world to rights…

There is more than enough money in this world to end all suffering. However, instead of using wealth for good, wealth is often used in many cases to destroy. Billions of dollars are spent on weapons while millions of people are left hungry..

The world is upside down, common sense has gone out of the window…

The other day, Russia spent $138 Million dollars sending 23 cruise missiles into Ukraine, their “prize” for doing so was around 25 dead Ukrainian people, 5 of which were children. So far in this crazy European war, billions have been spent on death and destruction. War is sickening, it’s all about who can kill the most people..

Can you think of anything more misguided than this?.

People have been killing each other since biblical days. Religion, politics and the desire for the land of others are three of the biggest culprits…

Are we so numb to the violence and death that we see daily on TV that we now see humans as disposable trash ? I’m not going to get all political here as I think politics is divisive, and one of the major causes of hate in the world, but just take a look at Twitter on any given day and you will see the hatred that politics induces.

Politicians are well versed in lying and seem to only connect with the voters when they want your vote..

The world should be taken back by the people. Politicians should be made to run food banks and be true servants of the people instead of pretending to be. We should pay our nurses, doctors and teachers the wages they deserve as they are really the most important people in the country, you can’t get better than health and education.

Instead of blowing people up in your ego induced wars, spread good healthcare and education around the world. We should make wars illegal and use a world alliance (not just NATO) to come down hard on countries who break the rules. Some countries are just barbaric and are not a good lesson for world peace.

The world had over 8 billion people in it. Dictators and tyrants use fear to keep people small. People are much more educated today, you can’t keep good people down forever.

However, above all this chaos.

We can still laugh

The one thing that can keep us all sane in a mad, mad world is the ability to laugh, and laugh we should because the whole human race is 100% bonkers. People can take away a person’s freedom but no one can take away your thoughts. What we imagine in our mind has a direct effect on both our mental and physical well-being.

By smiling, laughing etc, we release Endorphins into the brain. When you smile, your brain releases tiny molecules called neuropeptides to help fight off stress. Then other neurotransmitters like dopamine, serotonin and endorphins come into play too. The endorphins act as a mild pain reliever, whereas the serotonin is an antidepressant.

So, you see. Even with all the sh*t going on in the world, you can still feel good. Smiling is a great medicine for when you feel down. The world isn’t such a bad place, it has it’s dark side, but generally it’s full of good people who just want to live their lives.

When the bills keep coming and there is too much month at the end of the money, it’s hard to feel blessed, it’s hard to crack open that face and raise a smile but just think for a minute.. Smiling makes others smile too, your demeanour not only affects you, it affects others too, and that in effect comes back around and affects you.

So, you see. Humour goes a long way to keep people sane. This in turn alters the environment around you. People react a lot differently to happier people than they do to miserable people. Even if you have plenty to be miserable about, try smiling more and see how that affects your day.

And one last thing.

The world will never be perfect. Your life will never be perfect, that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy the ride. People take things so seriously you wonder what they are doing to their well-being. Try smiling more, your body will thank you for it.

Die with a smile on your face. Don’t curl your toes up having only lived half a life, enjoy what comes, better still create it the way you want it.

Have a great day..

Keith
