It has a special “Vibe” and can be used to sell all kinds of items ranging from mugs, teeshirts, artwork, jewellery and even digital products. The platform and the market it serves is huge. Etsy runs many TV ads in the USA. In 2021, there were 96.3 million active buyers who bought goods through the platform.
So who is Alicia Shaffer?
Alicia Shaffer is the founder of Three Bird Nest Designs. After just 3 years in business her bohemian apparel and accessories brand ThreeBirdNest, made between $75,000 and $80,000 a month selling handmade legwarmers, scarves, and headbands on Etsy and eBay
Alicia started her first business at the very young age of eight and failed many times to create a profitable business. She had marginal success with a previous online clothing store but it didn’t really take off. With three children, a husband and a house she needed capital and decided to get a job in public relations.
After a few months of this she got bored and decided to quit and start a clothing brand called Three Birds Nest on Etsy selling handmade Boho style clothing. The name Three Birds Nest comes from a tattoo on her arm showing her three daughters as “Three Birds”

Her business has gone from strength to strength and now employs 10 people. Her focus is now on developing her website and creating a stable store of her own. Having stores on Etsy & eBay are a great way to get started but you are reliant on the whims of the platform’s owners and you should always create an eCom store of your own to ensure your brand’s security.

It’s virtually free to get started on Etsy, and there are many guides for sale out there to show you how to achieve success, and there are many courses about Etsy for sale on sites such as Udemy.

This just goes to show that if you are determined enough, you can achieve almost anything online. The Internet gives people the opportunity to reach large amounts of people fairly cheaply. Online stores such as Amazon, Etsy & eBay generate millions of online buyers every year and there is no reason whatsoever why you can’t cash in on that buyer traffic.
