Is politics dumbing down the nation?
Do you remember when we were in junior school?. People used to hurl insults at each other on a daily basis. “Hey fatty”, skinny, shorty, etc, etc”..
Well, the adult version of that looks a bit like this. Hey, “libtard”, leftie, Hitler, fascist, etc., etc.
We seem to be living in an age where we look to leaders to make our country great again, without realising that it’s the people who make it great, not its leaders. Leaders issue orders, but it doesn’t make them right. Often, or not, it’s an excuse to make them, themselves great again.
Countries become great by creating great products that people want to buy, generating innovative ideas, and staying at the forefront of innovation. Then exporting that around the World. You don’t become great by isolating your country.
OK, let’s talk about innovation.
Let me ask you a blunt question. How much money have you made this year from shouting about politics on social media? – I’ll wait. None? I thought so.
Yet millions of people spend countless hours every day glued to their screens, spitting fire at prime ministers, presidents, senators, or MPs. They actively seek out political “discussion”, so they can argue with strangers. They rage over the latest scandal, share memes designed to trigger outrage, and argue as if their very existence depends on “winning” the debate. And all the while, the clock ticks. Their energy burns. Their creativity fades. And their bank balance stays exactly where it is, or worse.
Are We At War With Each Other?
Politics is one of the greatest distractions of modern life. It’s not just the arguments on TV or the headlines crafted to spark fear. It’s the endless cycle of division. Left versus right. Us versus them. Every story becomes ammunition. Every disagreement turns into a war. And while ordinary people are caught in the crossfire, their focus on growth, strategy, and personal development evaporates.
Here’s the truth. The rich don’t waste their time fighting over politics. Do you think millionaires are sitting on Twitter, cursing at each other over who should sit in Number 10 or the White House? Hardly. They’re too busy studying markets, building businesses, investing, innovating, and making deals. They understand that politics will shift, leaders will come and go, and laws will change, but it is personal strategy, focus, and execution that ultimately determine your success.
No one ever got rich arguing with strangers on the internet. Keyboard warriors note: Your every move is being observed. The more you insult people, the more you dumb yourself down. Now, you might not care, but always remember, you are what you attract. If you continue to attack people, you will attract enough negative energy to experience it in real life. You attract what you give out.
Politics is never 100% about you; these days, it seems to be about them. They may throw you a few titbits now and again, but many, if not most, promises made by politicians never see the light of day; all your arguments were for nothing.
A Waste of Energy?
Meanwhile, many hardworking, intelligent people are kept broke because they invest their energy in outrage instead of seizing opportunities. They allow their mental real estate to be colonized by anger, bitterness, and blame. That energy could be used to learn a new skill, start a new side hustle, or plan a financial strategy. Instead, it’s drained into the black hole of political argument.
Let’s be clear. I’m not saying you shouldn’t care about the world. Of course, politics affects society. Of course, it shapes laws, taxes, and opportunities. But what good does it do to live in constant outrage when that outrage doesn’t change your circumstances?
If you think joining a political cult will change your life. Think again. You, and you alone, are the only one who can do that.
It’s like sitting in a car park, honking your horn at everyone else’s bad driving, while your own car never moves. Noise doesn’t get you anywhere. Movement does.
Anger Sells
The danger is this: politics thrives on division. The media knows that anger sells; you are just helping to fan the flames of discontent. Social platforms know outrage keeps you scrolling. The longer you argue, the more ads they show you. Meanwhile, your goals, your peace of mind, and your financial growth all sit on the shelf, waiting.
Ask yourself this: if you redirected just half the time you spend slating politicians into studying wealth creation, learning high-income skills, or building your own business, where would you be in a year? Five years? Ten years?
Millionaires don’t let politics keep them broke. They watch it, maybe, but they don’t wallow in it. They act, they adapt, they strategize. And that’s the difference.
So, the next time you’re tempted to spend an evening battling strangers in the comment section, pause. Ask yourself: is this helping me grow? Or is it keeping me broke?
Your legacy will not be built on your Facebook arguments. It will be built on your vision, your focus, and your ability to rise above the noise.
The choice is yours.
