How to make money blogging?. This is perhaps one of the simplest online business models there is, and no matter what other vehicle you are using to make money online (or off), you could probably improve your revenue just by adding a simple blog into the mix.

I look on a blog as your very own piece of internet real estate. You use it to inform people of your personal or business adventures, or even to educate others, all of which can lead people to your products, services and offers. I have been using this model since 2010 and it works very well if done properly.

Why do people blog? and where does the word blog come from?.

The word Blog comes from Web Log. It is simply keeping a permanent record of something on an ongoing basis. If you add a video, it becomes a Vlog. It is what it says, it’s somewhere to log your activities.

Who blogs?

Just about anyone really. Even some very high profile businesses like Coca-Cola and Mcdonalds use blogging to reach people. You don’t have to be in business to be a blogger, you could be a musician, an author, an artist, or even Joe Bloggs.. anyone could (and should) start a blog. Is it all still worth it, even with all these social media platforms?

Well, in 2021 according to growthbadger.com there are 600 million blogs floating around on the interwebs. This is a huge amount of blogs considering that there are only around 8 Billion people in the World (2021). That’s 1 blog for around every 13 people on the planet.

How To Make Money Blogging – And Why you Should

It’s pretty simple to put a blog together. You can buy a domain name relevant to a keyword related to your business (or topic), and add a wordpress.org blog to it. That’s it. If you find that is a little bit too techy, you can find people on Fiverr who will build you a blog and put it all together for you for a few dollars.

Next, create some snappy blog posts.

Create content that people will engage with. Create content that keeps people coming back to your blog time and time again. Do this regularly. Blog at least once a week. Add a link or an opt-in box on your blog to get people onto your email list, this way you can create content on your blog and also email that content to those people on your list.

Building an email list also allows you to market your products to them. This should be done in between delivering awesome content. Don’t become some CRAZY spammer just because you have an email list.

The way to make money from your blog is to add links to relevant affiliate products. If you are an author, link to your books. If you create courses, link your posts to them. Carry ads on your blog like the ones on this blog (don’t overdo it). When you get a lot of daily traffic to your blog on a regular basis, sell advertising slots, or charge people to guest post.

There are dozens of ways to monetize a blog. Don’t forget, you also need to get eyeballs to your blog in the first place.

Getting Traffic to your blog:

One of my favorite ways I get traffic to my blog is I share the posts on social media. This is extremely easy. I share to Facebook, my Facebook group, Twitter, Pinterest and Linkedin. I mention my blog as much as possible, I even share quotes showing my blog link under the quote.

How To Make Money Blogging – Getting Traffic

You could pay for traffic initially just to get more eyeballs on your content but you won’t really need to if you share your content regularly on social media, you should soon get a regular following. I also place links under my YouTube videos and often mention the blog address in the videos themselves.

You will want to use SEO (search engine optimization) for your posts with plugins such as Yoast or All In One SEO, (these are free) and optimize your posts for Google by choosing popular keywords for your headlines and content. Link your blog posts internally (this is called deep-linking) and have plenty of outbound links going to high-traffic popular websites.

You will also want to create backlinks to and from highly ranked websites to create more evidence for Google that your blog is a blog of worthwhile standing. Backlinking can be done by using experts from either Fiverr or Upwork, and is not that expensive to do.

I hope you decide to blog. It can be both fun and profitable. Next time you go on holiday create posts on your blog with all your holiday pics, this is a permanent record for people to see. It’s good to post on social media but the posts disappear from view fairly quickly, whereas a blog is a permanent record that people could be looking at for years to come.
